It’s a bit of a marmite one (aren’t they all), you either wilfully fall down the rabbit hole of watching people dance, cook, stitch, or try out the latest trend, or you’d rather do anything, and I mean ANYTHING else.
Like it or loathe it, TikTok has become the ultimate go-to for information you didn’t know you needed to know. From fitness fads to book talk, gamer hacks to serotonin boosting cute animal videos, no facet of life is safe from the tok, with one industry in particular being transformed by the app…
Food.
Not a day goes by that a new recipe doesn’t pop up. From healthy options to sweet treats, the video-sharing app has brought exciting and unique dishes to millions of users worldwide, but are they worth a taste, or are they just clickbait?
Good news is we’ve done a little bit of experimenting here at Prepped Pots, (so you don’t have to) and here are our top nine TikTok food trends that are worth trying, plus a few more not worth the hype.
TikTok Sensations
1. Cloud Bread
Cloud bread has taken the internet (mainly TikTok) by storm, and for good reason. This fluffy, low-carb bread is made by whisking egg whites until stiff peaks form, then gently folding in cream of tartar, corn flour, and honey. It's easy to make and delicious to eat, and it's a great alternative for those watching their carb intake.
2. Baked Feta Pasta
This recipe has become a viral sensation on TikTok, and it’s easy to see (or rather taste) why – it’s honestly delicious and so, so easy to rustle up. The dish is made by baking a block of feta cheese with cherry tomatoes, garlic, and olive oil until everything is creamy and delicious. The feta becomes soft and buttery, melding perfectly with the pasta. It’s comfort food at its very best.
3. Pancake Cereal
Pancake cereal is a fun and unique way to enjoy your favourite breakfast food. Simply make mini pancakes and place them in a bowl like cereal, then add your favourite topping. It's a fun and creative way to start your day. Who doesn’t love pancakes?!
4. Cookie Dough Dip
Cookie dough dip is a must-try for those with a sweet tooth. This recipe is made with chickpeas, chocolate chips, almond milk, and maple syrup. The chickpeas give the dip a creamy texture, while the chocolate chips add a sweet, decadent flavour.

Bento boxes are a popular Japanese lunch box that has become a TikTok trend. These lunch boxes are packed with an array of healthy foods, like veggies, fruits, and lean proteins. They're a great way to meal prep and ensure you're getting all the nutrients your body needs.
Plus, it looks dead cute and is super satisfying when you organise everything neatly into its designated slot. An organised foodies dream.
6. Whipped Coffee
Whipped coffee, also known as Dalgona coffee, is a frothy and delicious drink that has taken social media by storm. This coffee is made by whipping instant coffee, sugar, and hot water until it forms a creamy, frothy mixture. It's then poured over milk for a delicious and eye-catching drink.
Yes, it’s TikTok clickbait, but it tastes amazing and a fab treat when you’re feeling fancy.
7. Avocado Salsa
This healthy salsa recipe is made with fresh coriander, avocado, lime, and onion. It's a light and refreshing snack that's packed with healthy fats and nutrients. Perfect for adding flare to a lunchtime wrap, as a side to nachos or for topping your tacos on Taco Tuesday.
8. Zucchini Fries
Zucchini fries (AKA Courgette fries) are a healthy and delicious way to satisfy your cravings for a crunchy, salty snack. They're easy to make and can be seasoned with various spices to fit your taste preferences. Trust us, load them with piri piri salt… game changer.
9. Tuna Poke Bowl
Tuna poke bowls are a healthy and nutritious lunch or dinner option. These bowls are made with fresh tuna, rice, veggies, and a delicious sauce. They're a great way to get your daily dose of healthy fats and protein.
Better yet, they’re super simple to make and are perfect for quick meal prep, when you’ve run out of your Prepped Pots of course…
What's not so hot?
Now, while TikTok has undoubtedly brought some delicious food trends, it's also important to highlight the ones that don't taste that good. Here are three trends you should skip:
1. Tuna Salad Sandwich Using Rice Cakes
Replacing bread with rice cakes can lead to a soggy sandwich that's lacking texture and flavour. Also… why people of TikTok? Just why?!
2. Cucumber Watermelon Salad
While the idea of mixing cucumber and watermelon may sound refreshing, the flavours don't blend well together and ultimately result in a dish that's unsatisfying and has a rather odd flavour profile. It’s not bad, but it’s not great and it’s basically just water.
In fact, we’d say loading up your water bottle with slices of watermelon or cucumber would be a much better use of these fruits.
3. Baked Oats
This recipe idea has good intentions but ultimately doesn't live up to the hype. The texture can be unpleasant, cloying and, well, reminiscent of the tapioca you’d get as a “pudding” for school dinners – gag.
Plus, unless you absolutely load it with flavour it can be bland and dissatisfying. Better just to wake up and make yourself some porridge in the morning before work.
